Safety:

Mozambique is a country located in Southeast Africa that has been facing several safety concerns in recent years. In the northern part of Mozambique, there has been an increase in terrorist attacks by a group known as Ahlu Sunnah Wa-Jama. The group has been attacking civilians, government officials, and security forces. The attacks have resulted in the displacement of thousands of people and have had a significant impact on the economy of the region. Crime is a significant safety concern in Mozambique, especially in urban areas. Robberies, muggings, and thefts are common occurrences, and travelers should be cautious when traveling in these areas. Malaria is a significant health concern in Mozambique, especially in rural areas. Travelers should take preventive measures such as taking antimalarial medication and using insect repellent to avoid getting malaria. Mozambique has a history of political instability, and there have been occasional outbreaks of violence related to political tensions. Travelers should monitor local media for any news of potential unrest and avoid any demonstrations or large gatherings. Mozambique has a limited road network, and many roads are poorly maintained, particularly in rural areas. There is a lack of enforcement of traffic laws. Traveling by road can be challenging, and drivers should exercise caution, particularly during the rainy season when roads can become impassable. Additionally, some roads are not safe due to the threat of landmines left over from the country's civil war.
