Safety:

Tunisia is generally considered a safe country for residents, but like any destination, it is not entirely without risks. Petty crime, such as pickpocketing and theft, can occur in tourist areas and crowded places. It is advisable to keep valuable belongings secure and to be aware of your surroundings. Tunisia has experienced several terrorist attacks in recent years, including the attack on the Bardo Museum in Tunis in 2015 and the attack on a beach resort in Sousse in the same year. The government has implemented security measures to prevent such incidents from happening, but travelers should remain vigilant. Tunisia has experienced some political instability in the past, and protests and demonstrations can occur. These events are usually peaceful, but travelers should avoid large gatherings and political demonstrations as a precaution. Tunisia is susceptible to natural disasters, such as floods and earthquakes. Travelers should be aware of the risks and follow any advice or warnings issued by local authorities. Tunisia has made significant progress in improving road safety and conditions in recent years, but there are still some challenges that travelers should be aware of. In terms of road conditions, Tunisia has a network of well-maintained highways and roads that connect major cities and tourist destinations. However, rural roads may be less developed and have more potholes and other hazards. It's also worth noting that driving habits in Tunisia can be unpredictable, with some drivers ignoring traffic rules and regulations.

Tunisians traditionally wear loose-fitting clothing that covers their arms and legs. Women often wear a hijab or headscarf to cover their hair. Tunisian cuisine is a blend of Arab, Berber, Mediterranean, and Ottoman influences. Popular dishes include couscous, brik, tagine, and merguez sausage. Music and dance are an important part of Tunisian culture. Traditional music genres include malouf, mizwed, and stambeli, while popular modern music genres include chaabi, pop, and hip-hop. Tunisia has a rich calendar of festivals that celebrate religious, cultural, and historical events. Some of the most popular festivals include the Festival of the Medina in Tunis, the International Festival of Carthage, and the Sfax International Olive Festival.
